Ethics and research

As a researcher, it is important to follow the rules of scientific research. You need to make sure that the rights, dignity and well-being of informants are being protected.

Research including humans are assessed by an ethical committee to make sure that ethical norms are followed. A discussion about the ethical principles for justice and autonomy is central for an ethical review. The method is different in different countries.

A list of laws and regulations about protecting human research subjects in 101 countries around the world. The list is compiled by the Office for Human Research Protections, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

A set of research ethics principles regarding human experimentation, established after the Nuremberg trials at the end of the Second World War.
