Publishing Strategy

5. Optimize Your Impact

5. Optimize Your Impact

A picture showing the fifth step of the publishing process: Optimize your impact.

In order to increase the potential impact of your publications, there are a number of important things that you should do. There are simple ways to improve the findability of your articles in databases and ways to distinguish yourself from other researchers with similar names. In this section we describe ways to optimize the metadata of your article, such as title, abstract, and keywords, and the importance of getting a researcher ID, such as ORCID, and to curate them well. Furthermore, you should have your publications registered in the institutional repository of your home university, such as DiVA. Another strategically important thing is to always write your affiliation address clearly and consistently.
