Publishing Strategy

Affiliation/address

Write your affiliation correctly and consistently!

Make sure that you write your affiliated address(es) correctly and consistently! This is very important for at least two reasons:

  • People who are interested in your work should be able to easily identify and contact you, and be able to distinguish you from authors with a similar name.
  • In bibliometric evaluations and analyses, writing your affiliations incorrectly and inconsistently may result in those publications being missed and not included in the evaluation or analysis.

The important elements of the address/affiliation

The important elements of an address are:

  • University
  • School
  • Department
  • Research centre or research environment
  • City and country

Each of these elements are separated with a comma. The order of the elements are usually not as important as writing each element correctly and consistently, unless your school or department has a standard for it. You should check with your department if such a standard exists. Sometimes the journal itself has a standard regarding this in their author guidelines.
