AI tools

What are AI tools?

There are several AI tools that can generate texts, such as ChatGPT and Bard. You can never use a text created by an AI tool as your own. However, you may want to investigate an AI tool as study material in an assignment. In that case, describe carefully in your method text how you have used the tool.

Please note! The text generated by the AI tool is always unique and therefore cannot be reproduced. For the sake of transparency, APA recommends that you copy and include the text as an appendix to your work.

APA's suggestion on how to write about AI tools

APA recommends that you describe how you have used an AI tool in the method section of your text. Here is an example of how such a text could look:

When given a follow-up prompt of “What is a more accurate representation?” the ChatGPT-generated text indicated that “different brain regions work together to support various cognitive processes” and “the functional specialization of different regions can change in response to experience and environmental factors” (OpenAI, 2023; see Appendix A for the full transcript).
