Finding full text (PDFs)

  1. In your EndNote Library, highlight the references you want to add fulltext to.
  2. Under the References menu, choose Find Full Text ► Find Full Text.
  3. The program will then scan the Internet to find the matching full text to be attached to the appropriate reference(s).
  4. A paperclip icon will be placed next to a reference if its full text is found.

Attaching a file to a bibliographic record

If using the Find Full Text feature does not retrieve a full text but you have the full text article in PDF, you can manually attach it to the bibliographic record.  You can also attach other file formats this way, such as Excel spreadsheets, Word documents, and simple text documents.

  1. In your EndNote library, double click the reference to which you want to attach the file.
  2. Scroll down to the File Attachments field.
  3. Right click your mouse and choose File Attachments.
  4. Click on Attach File.
  5. Find the file you want to attach.
  6. Once attached, the file thumbnail icon will appear in the field of File Attachments.
  7. A paperclip icon should now be displayed to the right of the record in the EndNote library.
