Get Creative with Creative Commons

Why share?

This guide is in many ways a practical guide on how to share your work with Creative Commons licenses. It has hopefully also given you some ideas on why it is valuable to share work. Sharing is, indeed, caring.

There's no need to reinvent the wheel when you can adopt what others have already created. It is also fun to seek inspiration and guidance from others.

Creative Commons does not only provide licenses to make it easy for users to understand what they can and cannot do with a resource. It is also a movement, which signals a set of values and a different way of operating. They foster better sharing: sharing that is contextual, inclusive, just, equitable, reciprocal, and sustainable.

If you are inspired to create and share Open Educational Resources, please remember that not all CC licenses are suitable for those kinds of works. For people to be able to build upon your resources, you need to choose a more open license. The chart below can help you to choose:

I hope that you will now begin to delve into the abundance of online resources available to you. You can use them, modify them to fit your needs and share them, thereby contributing to the larger community. Enjoy exploring! Below are some links to help you get started.
